"At first glance, Identifier Corporation seemed like a one line joke about artist names and identity to get attention. Upon deeper reflection and talking with Pumkin Folgers, I learned that that is far from the truth. The psychological concept is rich with potential for undoing and letting go of hang ups and old IDs by escaping into a new persona that you can define with this new name. In a time when the internet and anonymity and speaking your mind can be complicated, this project invites the artist to have a go at it without compromising their old self either. As US politics seems to be dominated by right wing conservatism and censorship, the potential this project offers if taken past its pilot at #rank into a working corporation could be powerful. Plans include developing a team of consultants to assist the user in creating this radical new identity to make the new self more real and true.

On a practical level the idea resonates as well. For instance a former professor has the same name as lesser established artist who quite possibly leveraged the professor's name to advance his career. What if the MFA professor used this service? What becomes of the work he's done to create a name from his existing name? In the history of art we have many artists who had aliases, dating back to Duchamp at least. With Identifier Corporation, the professor would avoid such frustrating identity theft."
