(puerto viejo de talamaca)
oh hi how's it going
i thought it would be great not to bring a computer with me to costa rica. and it is.
but then i thought it'd be a good idea to back up my camera card, just in case, so i got some cds but the cd drive on the colony's communal computer doesn't work.
trying to communicate in spanish was fun in town at ziggy's supply store in colon. i managed to get a camera cable (ka bleh) so i can copy photos onto the computer.
(agapi front yard)
and i can't copy the video on to the computer from the card or upload it online. i wanted to share the video vlog i made today as the blog. and well that's not happening. maybe in the future. video vlogs are fun to make and new ideas emerge there too. i came up with a good one for an upcoming show. yay!
so i'm posting vacation photos instead. i really love flowers and nature photos at the moment. i think this will continue in a new direction for my art practice. i'm shooting with a new camera and the control of the composition and focus has been great. lots still to learn but i am really loving the camera and color.
postcard photographer aspirations... :)
day 2 was another great day at the residency. learning how to relax. exhausted myself yesterday with ideas and couldn't get to sleep. the bamboo trees kept knocking and i had learned of the ghosts at yaddo so that was on my mind too. the first thing someone told me here was that relaxing is important to confidence. i believe it and executed discipline of relaxation today by picking up a kurt vonegut novel to read and swimming at the pool. it was amazing and productive!
