Material Girl at Burning Man

In 2002 I went to burning man and one morning blaring on the radio in the middle of the desert I heard the song Material Girl and at first I couldn't believe what bad taste in music people had but then as I listened to the tune I thought what a genius Madonna was because suddenly the song seemed so ironic. Did she realize and intend that? Today on my run I was listening to the song and considered perhaps it was the context that created the meaning. Maybe it was the latent unintended meaning surfacing because of the environment. Or maybe Madonna is a postmodernist and I never knew it. And maybe Madonna is actually awesome, genuine and has great advice. I also wondered if Lady Gaga listens to Madonna, what is Madonna up to today, and did she ever perform with MJ.

All obvious serious inquiries for any performance artist to be making.

Today I'm working on my grant for Burning Man for Plastic Fantastic which has some deep roots there amongst its history.
