Secrets

I get ideas and I like to share them, especially here. I had an idea for a performance while reading the Poetry of the Revolution and I want to share it. So badly. But then I thought, what if I didn't? what if I kept it a secret and just started making plans to implement it? I'm so not like that. Keeping a secret. Does it make it interesting? It's fun to think about. Really it's just another absurd idea. crazy. Kind of inline with the one to make a video performance of people super glamour dressed up in tuxedos and evening gowns but wearing way too much make up, that's melting off their faces and then screaming for 20 minutes. Just screaming and screaming and letting it all out.

I like to tell the ideas because then I think they are more likely to happen.

last week shows i visited

Andrew Suggs at Vox Poppuli - please please please go see this before it closes. i don't completely get it. think foucault (two u's) and avant-garde (e at the end - in the middle) and this video "whip" by ulrike müller... My heart still melts for Mapplethorpe and speaking of secrets, I went to the Mapplethorpe show in Boston in the early 90's with my parents and my aunt and uncle and I decided not to look at the secret section. WTF! FML! I did see a henry rollins show once too around that time. hot.

the videos installed in the lounge at vox are also excellent and has some ephemera to take home which i still have to read... tmi

Philadelphia Stories - AMAZING - "Joined by Divisions" Ted Passon and Valerie Keller rule. Termite TV's video on Philadelphia taxi drivers was great too. I really got into both stories. I almost didn't want to go because I was going to go to New York but I'm glad I did. And it was my buddy David Dunn who tipped me off about the event. Yay. Oh I think my coffee is working. Ok seriously please please please watch Ted Passon's new docu, it makes me think of MLK's manifesto I read not that long ago. Urgent action against racism in the police force and blue walling is needed. We need another march on Washington. Institutional change in the policy system with internal punishment against blue walling is needed. How can the FOP be one's friend and another's enemy when both are citizens of the same country and haven't committed crimes.

Loading Dock - Brooklyn, NY - I made it to New York on Saturday night and my friends took me to their friend's new gallery, the Loading Dock, tacos and art. mmm.

Friday I had stopped by the opening of the new show at Klein Art Gallery, but I didn't make it to Breadboard. Next time. The coolest part was someone showing me how the control deck on one apparatus worked another active camera in the room. Surveillance and outer space. Reminded me of Jon Kessler's Palace at 4am at PS1, yeah, I think that might be true of any show that uses surveillance like that. It also inspired me to want to use my drill which I still haven't taken out of the box since I got it in early november.

when i was reflecting i felt like that was a lot of getting out for the week. i think this week i have to focus on the writing for the grant app and getting the videos ready for friday and job hunting and wedding videography opps which seem to be cropping up. check out my wedding videos. you know you want one too.

i watched mindtv and a story about haiti from democracy now which is also up on their website, compelling and heartbreaking. now that i'm back on tv i think i might pop on their channel more frequently #35.

finally reading about manifestos, the book clarifies a difference between advocating revolution vs advocating war. in one you can own the performance of revolution and authority as theatrical without any actual destruction. reminded me of this website: Dictionary of War
