Pineapple, hats, video

mmm co-op pineapple is delicious for breakfast. any day with fresh fruit is already a good day.

rereading mrs.dalloway by virginia woolf, a member of the bloomsberry group, a modernist, who also killed herself. i have a fascination with suicide artists, how and why they still are valued in our culture. what kind of value is this?

art 21 : paul mccarthy
paul said his art is about commitment to the idea not about the audience. really.

also he said what makes video installation art, is the multi-channel aspect, not just one channel. and they are like paintings on the wall, about ideas, not narrative.

vito acconci said something similar at his lecture at penn, i asked him why he didn't work in video and he said it was because it was like making a painting on the wall and didn't want to do that.

i want to read this next: Subculture: The Meaning of Style, by DICK HEBDIGE (Author) "The chic thing is to dress in expensive tailor-made rags and all the queens are camping about in wild-boy drag.."

and if you haven't seen bad romance yet. watch it.

off to work.
